Rashad Evans Suffered Knee Injury Before UFC 170 Conference Call

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans described his knee injury during an appearance on The MMA Hour earlier this week. Evans was scheduled to face Daniel Cormier at UFC 170 but underwent a massive operation to repair his torn ACL and will likely miss the majority of 2014.

“(The injury) was the last practice of the camp,” Evans said. “I was doing a wall drill where guys are trying to hold me against the wall and we were wrestled up and (Cezar Mutante) slipped out of position and he ended up landing on my knee at a certain angle.

“I landed on it wrong and I messed my knee up pretty bad. At that point, that was before the conference call.”
