Who Was Responsible For The Return Of Starrcade?

According to a report by, it was Michael P.S. Hayes who was heavily involved and responsible for bringing back Starrcade in WWE this past weekend.

Hayes pitched the initial idea after realizing that WWE was running Thanksgiving weekend at Greensboro and Vince McMahon approved the idea.

Hayes was also the man who wrote the majority of the show, deciding that it should pay tribute to names who had been important to the market during the Jim Crockett Promotions. The report adds the event was filmed with multiple cameras for WWE’s archives, and if the company decides to release it as a Network special at a later date.

As noted, Starrcade was said to be a huge success from a live gate standpoint, and early word is that WWE is considering bringing the event back next year. The company is also considering running more special themed live events in order to help boost house show numbers.
