Ring of Honor Wrestling’s last stop before 2019’s G1 Supercard is Baltimore on March 31. The company announced ticket information via Twitter on December 27.
The G1 Supercard is of course the cross-promotional event that features both Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. That event is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2019, the night before WWE WrestleMania 35. The G1 will take place in the world famous Madison Square Garden, which also happens to be in Vince McMahon’s backyard.
Indeed, the Garden is considered the Mecca of professional wrestling and is often associated with WWE. So when ROH and NJPW scored the venue for 2019. many longtime WWE fans were surely surprised.
But there is no denying the impact that Ring of Honor and New Japan have had on the industry. Each company has persevered despite WWE’s shadow, which looms large over the business. But their success did not happen overnight and each company is continuing to grow throughout the world.
In a business that has traditionally been owned by one wrestling family, both New Japan and ROH have proved that there is definitely room for other companies to gain a foothold. The G1 Supercard will indeed be an historic event, not only for Ring of Honor and New Japan, but the pro wrestling industry as a whole.
