The Rock Explains His Real-Life Beef with John Cena and How He and Vince McMahon Turned It Into An Angle

The Rock has been making the media rounds this week promoting his new movie “Skyscraper”, which opens tonight, and Rock appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen on Thursday to discuss a variety of topics.

At one point in the show, a caller called in and asked Rock about his real-life beef with WWE star John Cena, and Rock had the following to say when asked if the beef still exists:

“No, I think we’ve squashed that. As a matter of fact John is gonna star in one of my movies that I’m producing, and I think he’s going great, he’s done great in his transition and he really wants to continue to work hard.

“I had left, and John Cena had done a series of interviews, radio interviews, and I just felt, and somebody had referenced me and said, ‘hey, is Rock ever coming back’, and he said, ‘I’m not quite too sure’, and I just didn’t like how he said it, and it stuck with me. So years later when I went back [to WWE], I talked to Vince McMahon and we thought, ‘well what if we took that and actually created this kind of thing,’ and I said ‘perfect’. Fortunately having the biggest box office record in WWE history, and then once it was all done, like all silly beefs like that we were so cool.”

Also on the show, Rock addressed his beef with actor Tyrese, and you can that out in the video player below:

A WWHL caller asks actor Dwayne Johnson about his feud with Tyrese Gibson over the “Fast & Furious” spinoff and Dwayne says if he’s spoken to Tyrese since and if they will speak in the future.
