Ryback Comments on Taker’s Streak & Goldberg Match

Two things Ryback has in mind is ending The Undertaker’s famed undefeated streak at WrestleMania and taking on former WWE & WCW Wrestler Bill Goldberg.

Speaking to TribLIVE, the WWE Superstar considers it a “good thing” that the topic of a showdown with Goldberg is constantly discussed by wrestling fans.

“For me, I grew up watching the guy. He came in an era and dominated. I still remember to this day being in high school and him taking on Hogan. It was during my summer baseball tournament in Mesa, Ariz. All the guys went out and I stayed back. ‘Ah, I gotta stay back because I got stuff to do.’ I stayed in my hotel room to watch Nitro and watched Goldberg take on Hogan when he defeated him for the world heavyweight championship in Atlanta. The reaction that man got out of all those people, it takes a special person to do that,” said Ryback.

“I’d love to take on Bill Goldberg. I think it’s a match that’s going to make me a lot of money. It’s going to make him a lot of money. It’s a match the WWE Universe want to see. I said recently that if people keep chanting his name at me, they’re going to make me a ton of money. WWE’s going to want to bring in Bill Goldberg to face Ryback.”

Despite his interest in facing Goldberg, Ryback does not consider it his “dream match.” Rather, it is facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania and ending the streak.

“No, one of my main goals is ending The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak. It’s something everyone has their opinion on. Some people say it’s something that should never end. I say why not? I say I’m good enough to end it, and I’m very confident in myself. I know there are a lot of people that will say otherwise, but I could care less what they say. I’m the one who wakes up every day and knows how hard I’ve worked for this. It’s something, if I don’t believe I can do it, nobody else is going to believe it,” said the former Skip Sheffield.

“I talked to him (The Undertaker) last year at WrestleMania. He made a comment to me. We were down by the ring somewhere and he said ‘I hear you’re doing some interviews and saying you want The Undertaker.’ I said ‘You’re damn right I do.’ That’s all it was. Whether it happens this year or the year after, I don’t know.

“Whatever the WWE asks of me, I will do because they are my employer. I give them everything I have because I have a love and passion for this and there is no ego involved. The Undertaker is definitely another one for WrestleMania. There is no bigger for me. The streak has become its own attraction. If that’s a possibility, I’m there.”

Ryback also reveals what he would be doing if he wasn’t wrestling, his reaction to discovering he would be working alongside Paul Heyman, and what he plans to do to become WWE’s premiere Superstar.

EXCLUSIVE: WWE Battleground Predictions….

Seriously? The guy doesn’t have enough mileage on him to warrant a WM match with Undertaker. And Undertaker has WAY TOO MUCH mileage that he should have retired by now.

I’m thinking this may be Takers last Mania. I agree Ryback hasn’t quite been around long enough to get a WM match with Taker. However, if the plan for him is to become a huge star ending the streak would be a huge help in that but I don’t think he’ll be the one. IF they were ever to have someone end the streak it would need to be the new face of the company, someone who is going to stick around for a while. Sadly though, if Vince decides to end it I’m betting he’s going to have Cena do it.

regardless of how i don’t like him Orton should be the one its only my opinion

        • Carter Williams

Orton already had his chance, they even let his daddy help. If they didn’t let Shawn (2 matches) or Triple H (3 matches) do it I doubt Vince will let Orton do it. I remember there was talk of having Barrett be the one to do it but that was a while ago.

would love to see Barret do it but better yet have barret tranform into the new undertaker in this match to continue the legase dont want him to end it just fight an at the end fire an smoke clear barret is standing there dress an looking like undertaker

Rumors are flying it will be Sting. At this point both he and Taker are at about the same speed so it might make sense. Putting Taker in there with a younger guy might make him look old and probably taint his last WM match. Wrestling another vet seems a more logical conclusion.

        • Carter Williams

It does seem logical, the final farewell for the Icon and the Phenom. I’d pay to see that match. I think if they found the right young guy he could still have a hell of a match. Can’t be a big brute guy, need someone like Ziggler or Ambrose who can move and make it look good and Taker wouldn’t be straining so much doing his big moves to them.

Can you imagine Heyman’s Promos where he’s building this up? No disrespect Ryback, but you don’t deserve it…Nobody does…
