NXT Superstar Shane Thorne has reacted to his Breakout Tournament snub. The tournament was announced by NXT General Manager William Regal on June 19 and is set to begin on June 26.
Eight stars not currently on NXT’s roster will be featured in the tournament, but Thorne is not one of them. Shane has been part of the black and gold brand since 2015, when he and former partner Mikey Nicholls competed as TM61.
TM61 later became The Mighty and appeared to be headed for big things in NXT’s tag team division. But Nicholls’ departure in December of 2018 put an end to the team and Thorne has been somewhat directionless since then.
Now he’s sounding off against The Breakout Tournament, which includes Jordan Myles, Boa, Cameron Grimes, Isaiah Scott, Dexter Lumis, Bronson Reed, Angel Garza and Joaquin Wilde. Garza and Wilde’s first round match takes place on the June 26 edition of NXT.
The winner of the tournament will get a shot at the NXT title of his choice. While that stipulation didn’t necessarily state that the last man standing will join NXT’s roster, it seems unlikely that will not indeed be the case.
