Speculation: Why WWE Is Doing Kane vs. Daniel Bryan?

Just to recap some things coming out of RAW Monday night ……….

— It was announced on RAW that Big Show vs. Jack Swagger will take place on tomorrow’s episode of WWE Main Event.

— Batista vs. Sheamus was revealed on RAW as the main event for this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

— Next week on RAW, the rest of the WWE Intercontinental Championship number one contender tournament will take place. Advancing in first round matches on Monday night were Rob Van Dam, Cesaro, Sheamus and Bad News Barrett. Squaring off next week in the semi-finals will be RVD vs. Cesaro and Sheamus vs. Bad News Barrett.

— John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt will take place at Extreme Rules in the confines of a steel cage as noted earlier. The stipulation was agreed to by Cena and Wyatt on Monday night’s episode of WWE RAW.

— Also set for but not yet confirmed for the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view/special event is Daniel Bryan vs. Kane for the WWE World Heavyweight Title and Evolution vs. The Shield. The reason Daniel Bryan is facing Kane out of nowhere on the pay-per-view is simply due to the fact that Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista are all tied up with the Evolution vs. Shield match. It was announced on RAW two weeks ago that Randy Orton and Batista both have “rematch clauses” for the WWE title so it’s likely we’ll see Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan vs. Batista at future WWE pay-per-view/special events. Of course, WWE could always change course and completely “forget” about that sort of thing as they often do.. Following the Shield vs. Evolution match at Extreme Rules, Randy Orton and Dave Batista would be “freed up” so it makes sense to do the singles matches with Daniel Bryan then. This would also allow WWE to begin the build to Roman Reigns vs. Triple H at SummerSlam. They could also do Dean Ambrose vs. Orton or Batista … or … Seth Rollins vs. Orton or Batista matches …. or a tag-team match featuring Orton/Batista vs. Rollins/Ambrose while Reigns feuds with Triple H. As you can see, there are LOTS of options WWE can go with and my guess is that they’re booking things on a week-to-week basis as they often do so they don’t even know what they’re going to do at this point. We shall see.

save Lesnar vs Bryan for Summerslam

So Bryan becomes secondary behind HHH’s feud again. I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes third in importance behind Cena/Wyatt too. They do all this stuff to make the title important and then straight away lower it behind other feuds.

    • James Blackwell

I would argue that HHH is helping build future stars, rather than putting his feuds higher up the card.
If it was not for HHH I doubt we would see Bryan, Cesaro, The Shield and other ‘indie darlings’ as high up the card, he is definitely helping build a new generation

      • Laurence

True, i agree he is pushing the new stars but they need to keep pushing Bryan as champ and not just drop him now. If Bryan has a rematch with Orton/Batista then that would mean they are going over Ambrose/Rollins. Reigns will go over HHH i guess. But the title should always be the top of the bill, put Evolution one below the title, then Cena Bryatt below that.
I also want them to stop this King of Swing nonsense for Cesaro. I get it’s trying to get him over but it’s embarrassing. Build him as a monster in the ring like Lesnar, not as a one move guy with a silly jokey nickname. I imagine him feuding with Fandango soon about King of swing vs King of Rumba.

Oh no, the title definitely is the most important thing but what is better is people finally care about all matches. Too often over the past few years there has been 1 or 2 worthwhile matches on a PPV. WM was perfect, and Extreme Rules could be equally good.

Would love it to be booked
          Bryan vs Kane NO DQ
          Paige vs AJ
          Cena vs Wyatt Cage
          Evolution vs The Shield
Barrett vs Big E (IC title)
          Swagger vs Cesaro (Table match)
          Usos vs RybAxel (Ladders)

See this is exactly why initially why I disagreed with putting both titles together as well as both rosters for both shows. It just doesn’t make sense. There are too many major stories, too many top tier talent, and little opportunity. D-Bry is the man point blank period, why? Because he’s the champ. The champ has to be the centre of the show at all times, because he’s the champ. If we had another major tittle then it would put a lot of the other deserving major players still in a good spot, also separating the rosters are a great idea because no one has to fight for show time, plus bring back raw to 2 hours, enough of this 3 hour garbage, you would be able to put across better content. Enough of the soap opera stuff, get back to real wrestling please. Raw is full of to many dumb stuff, and then a wrestling match will be 7 min, makes no sense. More wrestling matches please. That’s how I feel about the issue, oh and Also “CENA SUCKS”. He needs to turn heel for next years mania point blank period.

I notice Lesnar’s name is nowhere to be found in any of this. They have Undertaker DROP THE STREAK to him, and then nothing. Total waste. Especially since Undertaker really wanted Daniel Bryan to be the one he put over at WrestleMania. Awesome, WWE. Way to go.

    • Timothy Graham

Lesnar is not necessarily the beneficiary of the the streak ending. It’s all about publicity and the fact that more people talked about that than Bryan winning the gold suggests that it was not a waste. How does it affect network buyrates? That is the question.

      • Ozzy TYSON

Well, word is that ratings AND stock are down, and Dish and Direct both confirmed their discontinuation of offering WWE PPVs. No specific evidence of a correlation, but rumors are…

Something tells me Kane will be turning face again very soon and we will probably get Triple H vs Kane.
