SPOILER: Major Title Change Takes Place At Impact Wrestling TV Tapings

A major championship change took place at this Saturday’s Impact Wrestling television taping event in Mexico City, as Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix — collectively known as the Lucha Bros. — defeated LAX in an Impact Homecoming rematch to capture the Impact World Tag Team Championships.

The title change, which came at the end of what was reportedly an excellent match that saw the Mexican fans throw money in the ring, is scheduled to air on the Feb. 15th edition of the show.

This technically ends Santana and Ortiz’s championship reign at 261 days, although with their original title win airing on an almost two-month tape delay, and the transition to the Lucha Bros. not airing for over a month, that number gets a bit more complicated. Either way, LAX will have surpassed Bobby Roode and James Storm’s 2011 run as the longest reign in company history.
