As noted, Impact Wrestling held night one of a two night TV taping at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on Friday night. The company will return to the College tonight for the final night of tapings.
Of note from Friday night’s tapings was the debut of former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann. Swann competed in a singles match against Trevor Lee in what was described as a great match and picked up the win. It was the only match he worked at the tapings.
Despite Eli Drake’s Impact contract expiring sometime this week, Drake did work last night’s TV tapings and defeated Grado in a singles match. It is unknown what Impact has planned for Drake at tonight’s TV tapings and as of this writing Drake still has not signed a new deal with Impact.
Former NFL star D’Angelo Williams, who made his Impact Wrestling debut on April 2nd, 2017, but announced his pro wrestling retirement three months later in July, made his return to an Impact ring.
Williams cut a promo during the taping and was interrupted by Austin Aries, who ended up attacking Williams with a steel chair.
