As previously reported, the vulgar and violent rivalry between The Briscoes and The Guerrillas of Destiny will write its next chapter at the upcoming ROH Summer Supercard event set to invade Toronto, Ontario on Friday, August 9th.
Ring of Honor has now officially confirmed that not only will the ROH World Tag Team Championships be hanging in the balance that night, but the two teams will square off in the promotion’s most devastating stipulation. That’s right – return of the Ladder War!
The Briscoes recently defeated Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa to win back the titles for an unprecedented 11th time. Interestingly enough this bout, pitting the ROH champions against the reigning IWGP Tag Team Champions, was originally announced for G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden, before it was turned into a Fatal 4-Way match.
This will be the eight incarnation of the Ladder War, which originated back in 2007 when Kevin Steen and El Generico, who of course later became Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, challenged The Briscoes for the very same titles that will be on the line next month at ROH Summer Supercard.
‘Dem Boys are no strangers to the concept, which is essentially Ring of Honor’s take on a more amped up ladder match, involving a ridiculous amount of ladders, and generally copious amounts of tables, chairs, etc. It’s a TLC match. The Briscoes will be entering Ladder War VIII for the fourth time as a tag team, while Jay Briscoe has a fifth under his belt challenging Adam Cole for the ROH World Championship.
