Tonight’s WWE Smackdown Preview: Shane to Make WrestleMania Announcement, Asuka Debuts, Live Coverage

The superstars of Smackdown Live return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN tonight for the first show since Sunday’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view.

The undefeated “Empress” Asuka will make her official blue brand debut and will likely come face-to-face with her WrestleMania 34 opponent, Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Plus we have a new United States Champion in “The Viper” Randy Orton, a furious Commissioner, and a whole lot more!

Join us for complete live coverage of tonight’s show kicking off at 8/7c. Here are the bullet points are promoting for tonight’s episode of Smackdown Live:

“Shane McMahon to Make a WrestleMania Announcement”

After inserting himself into yet another pay-per-view main event, The Commish was knocked out cold by an accidental superkick from Kevin Owens. He then retaliated by costing both Owens and his “bestie” Sami Zayn the WWE Championship on two separate occasions. It’s been more than six months since the madness began between this group, and Shane will be making a “major WrestleMania announcement” less than four weeks before the biggest show of the year.

“Asuka to make her first SmackDown LIVE appearance after challenging Charlotte Flair”

Asuka shocked the world by making a surprise appearance at WWE Fastlane and choosing Charlotte Flair as her WrestleMania opponent. The 2018 Royal Rumble winner had been teasing an encounter with RAW’s champ Alexa Bliss for well over a month, and now with this seemingly last-minute twist in plans things will be very interesting as the “Queen” and the “Empress” are forced to share space on Smackdown.

“AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura’s Road to WrestleMania begins”

It’s official. AJ Styles will defend the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania 34 in what many are considering a dream match many years in the making. Of course the two have already faced off on one grand stage, co-main eventing Wrestle Kingdom for NJPW, but this will be the first time the two modern icons will be competing under the bright lights of WWE.

“How will Randy Orton deal with the target on his back?”

The “Viper” checked the very last championship he needed off his personal BINGO card at Fastlane and is now your new United States Champion! It’s looking like Orton will be defending his title at WrestleMania in a triple threat against both Jinder Mahal and Bobby Roode, but we should know more about WWE’s official plans by the end of tonight’s show.

“How have The Bludgeon Brothers changed the SmackDown Tag Team division?”

Harper and Rowan, who used to have last names but seemed to have lost them in the wasteland somewhere, interfered in a match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships at Fastlane. It appears they want a shot at the belts, and for some reason WWE seems to believe that’s a thing we need see at WrestleMania. I guess we’ll find out tonight on Smackdown!
