JOHN CENA COULD… BE THE SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE FOR BROCK LESNAR vs. ROMAN REIGNS

There’s actually some “proof” they might be setting this up as a very real thing. This week on WWE Raw Lesnar attacked a member of the Raw management team, his own manager/advocate, and a backstage announcer.

They could run an angle where the referees refuse to get in the ring with Lesnar, forcing a pissed off Kurt Angle to bring in someone he can trust to maintain order. Someone that can take a blow from the Beast Incarnate and get back up. Someone that’s had plenty of experience with both guys in the ring, and knows what to look out for. Sure, it’ll be tricky having a referee you can’t physically see, but the pros outweigh the cons in this situation.

There’s also the potential to set up an even bigger program heading into the fall. I sense something screwy going on with Paul Heyman, but regardless of who he sides with, or who cashes in the Money in the Bank briefcase, they could do an angle where Cena as the referee at the time is forced to make a count he’s unsure of, and ultimately costs Reigns the Universal Championship. That also maintains the WWE narrative that Reigns is the “uncrowned champion” that is constantly screwed over by elements beyond his control.
