According to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com, the rumors of CM Punk potentially fighting at UFC 225 in Chicago appear to be more than just rumors, as UFC officials are discussing a possible opponent for the former WWE Champion.
Last week UFC announced the company will be holding its very first event in Chicago at the United Center, and Punk reacted to the news by posting the Tweet below.
According to Helwani, UFC officials are discussing CM Punk vs Mike Jackson, however, the talks are in the very early stages and nothing has been confirmed as of this writing.
Punk is 0-1 in UFC, and made his debut in September 2016 at UFC 203, losing his bout against Mickey Gall in the first round via submission. Jackson has campaigned hard for the fight against Punk, as he too is 0-1 in UFC, and his loss also came to Mickey Gall via first-round submission in February 2016.
As we noted last month, UFC President Dana White is keen on the idea of giving Punk another fight in UFC, and had the following to say on the pipebomb innovator:
“I like that guy. He’s a good dude. He wants one more. He wants to get another shot. I’m going to give it to him.”
