As we noted earlier this week, via MMAFighting.com, UFC star Fabricio Werdum claimed in an interview with the site that he is set to meet with WWE officials this week about potentially working in both MMA and pro wrestling.
However, in a new statement issued on Twitter today, the former UFC Champion clarified he is not meeting with WWE officials today, but is meeting officials in an unnamed Lucha Libre promotion in Mexico. MMA Fighting has also removed references to WWE published in their initial report and interview with Werdum.
Hey guys to make it clear I spoke about maybe doing Lucha libre in México. Not WWE. I meant wwe style(pro wrestling) but I am a @ufc fighter and my focus 100% is fighting in the ufc and whatever decision I make after my fighting career @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 will be involved.
