The WWE Universe was shocked earlier this week when it was announced Brock Lesnar would be the Royal Rumble, but there is a reason behind it.
Paul Heyman and Lesnar announced that he would be the #1 entrant into the Rumble match during WWE Raw this week, leaving a lot of questions from the WWE Universe.
However, according to the Twitter account, WrestleVotes, there is a distinct reason. WWE is reportedly planning on having Lesnar in the match as an angle to set up his WrestleMania 36 match this year.
Because it is inside the Rumble and other brands are able to compete, the roster stated that it could be a signal that someone from SmackDown or NXT will actually be the one to face Lesnar this year.
While the winner of the Rumble obviously gets a title shot at ‘Mania against a champion of their choosing, the chances are the winner of the match would challenge for the Universal Championship instead.
Source says WWE is doing this Lesnar in the Rumble angle as a way to set up Brock’s Mania matchup. Which could signal its against someone from SD or NXT as Heyman mentioned a few times last night. Opens up a world of possibilities.
