Major Title Change Helps This Week’s Impact Wrestling Hit New Viewership High

This week’s edition of Impact Wrestling, which was billed by Impact as a “new era” for the show, as it was the first broadcast under the helm of Scott D’Amore and Don Callis, ended with a major surprise. The main event featured Austin Aries returning to Impact to defeat Eli Drake for the Impact World Championship.

The show also featured several top stars who have since left Impact, including EC3, Bobby Lashley, Laurel Van Ness and Jeremy Borash. Since the episode was taped, Borash and EC3 signed with WWE.

According to ShowBuzz Daily, this week’s Impact Wrestling averaged 319,000 viewers, up from last week’s 310,000 viewership average for the “Genesis” themed edition of Impact. This week’s number is the best Impact has done so far in 2018, and the show ranked #136 for the night in overall cable TV viewership.
