Sunday’s NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo event ended in pure chaos, as the bubbling tension between Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega and “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes has finally erupted.
In a shocking turn of events, “Switchblade” Jay White defeated Omega in the Sapporo main event to become the new IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion. Fellow Bullet Club star “Hangman” Page then made his way out to make his intentions at the title clear, issuing a challenge to the newly crowned champion.
It didn’t take long for things to completely break down between the super faction, as Omega wanted to show proper respect to White after losing clean in the middle of the ring. Cody Rhodes then ran out followed by “The Villain” Marty Scurll and the Young Bucks, who earlier in the night dropped the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Championships to Roppongi 3K.
When Kenny accidentally shoved down his best friend Matt Jackson in the chaos, the Bucks left him in the ring without reconciling. “The Cleaner” was seemingly able to mend fences with Page and Scurll, but before the group could ride off into the sunset Cody dropped their leader with a shocking Cross Rhodes out of nowhere. He then rolled to the outside to grab a steel chair, but the “Golden Star” Kota Ibushi made the save and chased off the remaining Club members before reuniting with a very old friend.
