CM Punk is one of the most polarizing figures in recent WWE history. The Second City Saint may have left the pro wrestling business four years ago but fans continue to talk about him to this day. The former WWE champion has indeed moved on with his life but he remains in the spotlight.
Much of that is thanks to his foray into the world of Mixed Martial Arts of course. But now Punk can also add “actor” to his resume. Punk, real name Phil Brooks, is starring in “The Girl On The Third Floor,” a horror film, which is now in post-production.
Brooks portrays Dan Koch, a family man that attempts to renovate an old mansion which is apparently haunted. The film also stars Trieste Kelly Dunn and Sarah Brooks and is directed by Travis Stevens.
Brooks’ supporters are likely excited to see him display his acting chops on the big screen. But it’s his alter ego that many pro wrestling fans are anxious to see in the ring again. Indeed, CM Punk spoke to a large segment of fans that felt a close connection to his character and to his rebellious spirit.
However, Punk has not worked a pro wrestling match since leaving WWE. He and longtime friend Colt Cabana recently won a lawsuit brought by WWE Doctor Chris Amann. The lawsuit stemmed from Punk’s appearance on Cabana’s podcast The Art of Wrestling. Punk told the story of his departure from WWE, which included concerns over his health and frustrations over Amann’s apparent lack of concern.
Punk has had two fights in the UFC, both of which were losing efforts. He was recently announced as the new color commentator for Cage Fury Fighting Championships. His first night at the table will be at a live event on December 14.
