WATCH: Rey Mysterio Makes His NJPW In-Ring Debut at Dominion

1

After long last the Master of the 619, Rey Mysterio, has finally come to New Japan Pro Wrestling, making his debut Saturday at the promotion’s second biggest event of the year, Dominion.

The former WWE Champion made his debut in a six-man tag team match packed full of major names. Mysterio teamed with fellow junior heavyweight legend Jushin Thunder Liger and 8-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi to take on Bullet Club members Cody Rhodes, “The Villain” Marty Scurll and Hangman Page.

While the 43-year-old Cruiserweight looked to be in excellent condition, snapping off many of his iconic signature moves – including a double 619 and an impressive sunset flip powerbomb – the legends ultimately came up short in their first bout working together. In the end, Mysterio cleared the ring and connected with a massive dive through over the ropes, taking out two of his opponents in the process, but the opening was just what Cody needed to sneak in and plant Liger with the Cross Rhodes to pick up the victory.
