It’s great news for WWE’s UK fans today as it has been confirmed that WWE is coming to free-to-air television in the United Kingdom.
At the start of the year, WWE brought its 25-year partnership with Sky Sports to an end and joined BT Sport. But despite BT Sport putting tons of effort and attention to the company so far, giving it prime time viewing slots, it will not be the exclusive home of WWE within the UK.
That’s because the company has come to terms with a deal with Channel 5 as well. The free-to-air channel is available to all homes in the UK with a TV licence and will be showing one-hour highlights shows of both WWE Monday Night Raw, and WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
SmackDown will be broadcasting on Saturday’s at 10:30 am, while Raw will appear on Sunday’s at the same time.
On top of that, WWE NXT UK will also be on free-to-air TV, showcasing the homegrown talents that the UK has produced. The show will be aired on a six-day delay, with episodes being available on the Paramount Network every Wednesday at Midnight.
The new deal with Channel 5 will begin on February 2nd, 2020, and will mark the first time WWE has been on free-to-air television in the UK since 2001.
From February 2, @WWE is coming to @channel5_tv!
Every Sunday, an hour-long highlight show of #RAW will broadcast at 10:30am, and every Saturday, an hour-long highlight show of #SmackDown at 10:30am.
