WrestleTalk.com is currently reporting that WWE NXT UK Superstars will no longer be allowed to wrestle for promotions that aren’t partners of WWE. While NXT UK Superstars have always been forbidden from UK Companies with major distribution deals, this new restriction would strike a heavy blow to the British Independent Wrestling community. Current WWE partners are Progress in England, Insane Championship Wrestling in Scotland, and wXw in Germany. WWE had originally said there would be “no restrictions” on WWE NXT UK talent, and that they did not plan to be the “big bad wolf,” intent on choking the UK scene.
WWE NXT UK Superstars will be allowed to wrestle advertised matches through the end of the year, though only if a paramedic is on site. This comes after reports of WWE NXT UK Superstars showing up to the UK Performance Center with injuries that were not disclosed to WWE. Also talent is immediately banned from wrestling anyone employed by Ring of Honor, NJPW, World of Sport or other major promotions, meaning some advertised matches will have to be scrapped.
It is being said that these restrictions do not apply to the entire NXT UK roster, but that is likely to change.
