WWE has officially confirmed that Humberto Carrillo, who has been working on NXT Live tours for the past five months, will be moving up to the 205 Live brand effective immediately. The high-flying superstar made his return this Tuesday night in Birmingham, Alabama answering the open challenge of Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy.
Carillo was formerly known as Ultimo Ninja on the Mexican independent scene. He was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and began training in pro wrestling back in 2012. He gained a bit of exposure internationally in 2017 picking up consistent dates with The Crash promotion, including matches with Flip Gordon, Flamita, Jeff Cobb, DJZ, Scorpio Sky and Trevor Lee.
After signing a WWE developmental deal, Ultimo dropped his mask and rebranded himself as Humberto Carillo for an NXT Live event on Aug. 23rd, his first match with the company. He eventually found himself in a tag team alongside Raul Mendoza, who has been used as an enhancement talent on NXT television several times, and is also very impressive in the ring.
As noted, 205 Live returned to its old date and time this week, airing Tuesday night immediately after Smackdown Live, exclusively on the WWE Network. It was moved temporarily to Wednesday nights before NXT to accommodate for the WWE Mixed Match Challenge.
