IN RING SEGMENT
We start the show with the Olympic Gold Medalist and General Manager of Monday Night Raw, Kurt Angle, and the hall of famer is all smiles! Kurt thanks the crowd for the ovation. He says that he is excited to be competing alongside Ronda Rousey against Stephanie and Triple H. He says that he almost feels bad for Stephanie, but he doesn’t feel bad for what he is going to do to Triple H.
He then addresses the Universal Title match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, and he breaks the news that the Universal Champion is not going to make it tonight. He states that Brock may have had travel issues, or perhaps wasn’t feeling well, or perhaps just didn’t feel like showing up.
We then get an angry Roman Reigns, who makes his way out to the ring, presumably to address the champion and his lack of presence on Raw. Roman says that he wishes he was surprised, but he isn’t. He says that Brock doesn’t respect Roman, the company, or anyone in the WWE Universe. He says that Brock Lesnar didn’t show up for work today, nor last week. He asks Kurt what the repercussions are, but then he stops Kurt and says that nothing is going to happen because he is “Vince’s Boy” (ironic). He asks the crowd what would happen if any of them didn’t show up for work. Best case scenario, they’re written up, but worst case they don’t know how they’re going to feed their families. He says that Kurt is not to blame, and he is just a middle man. He says that the real person to blame is Vince McMahon. He says that he walked right past Vince and he didn’t have the courtesy to tell him what was going on. Roman says that he is going to get disrespected by Brock Lesnar, but he REFUSES to get disrespected by Vince McMahon.
Roman slams the mic in the chest of Kurt and the camera follows Roman up the ramp and into the Gorilla position area, an area we don’t get to see often, if at all, and hardly EVER during a live show. He walks straight to Vince, who is sitting with a headset next to Shane McMahon with producers of the show surrounding them. Vince stands up and tries to calm Roman down, and asks Roman to go to talk in Vince’s office and yells at someone to go to commercial!
We come back from commercial and Renee Young is standing outside VInce’s office and says that things got heated in there until Roman Reigns comes out. Renee tries to get a word with him, but he just leaves. Vince comes out and grants Renee an interview. He says that he wants to clarify a few things. He says that Brock is nobody’s boy, but he is a man. He says that he told Roman in their brief meeting a thing that Roman’s cousin The Rock used to say, which was to know his role, and shut his mouth. He says that Brock gets special privileges, but he has earned them. But Brock will be at Raw next week, and you can take his word on that. As far as Roman goes, he talks about respect, and because of the lack of respect Roman showed, Roman is temporarily suspended.
SASHA BANKS vs. SONYA DEVILLE
Sonya is with Mandy Rose and Paige as usual, but the story here is that Sasha Banks comes out with Bayley. Bayley looks reluctant to be there, but the match starts anyway. Sonya shows some skill quickly, but is bested by the veteran Banks who takes advantage and throws Deville out of the ring and Paige and Mandy go to check on her.
Deville gets in the ring and Deville quickly gets a belly to belly on Sasha and goes for a cover but Sasha kicks out. She quickly locks in a leg scissors in the middle of the ring on Sasha as Bayley looks on. Sasha fights her way up and Deville is still on the back of Sasha as she backs up Sonya into the turnbuckle, knocking Sonya off. Sasha turns around to get some offense but she walks right into a big kick from Sonya Deville. Sasha gets up in the corner and Sonya rushes her, but Sasha like a cat jumps up to the top rope and hits the double knees on Deville.
Mandy Rose jumps up to the apron to distract Sasha, but Bayley immediately pulled off Rose, which in turn actually distracted Deville long enough to let Sasha hit a backstabber and make Sonya Deville tap out with the Bank Statement.
Winner: Sasha Banks
After the match, Bayley leaves, letting Sasha Banks to celebrate herself, but the celebration is short lived as Absolution surrounds the ring. Sasha attacks first, but the odds are too much and Absolution beats down Sasha and leaves her laying.
