WWE Smackdown Results (2/20): AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin, 6-Woman Tag Match, Kevin Owens in Action & More

WWE Smackdown Results
February 20, 2018

WWE Champion AJ Styles kicked off the show and welcomed the WWE Universe to Smackdown Live, the house that AJ Styles built. He cut an incredibly scripted promo about defending his title at Fastlane in a Fatal 5-Way and constantly being caught up in everyone else’s drama. Baron Corbin interrupts the champ and brags about winning his way into the title match, and the two go back and forth trading the same insults they both always throw at everyone.

6Kevin Owens is out and has heard enough of everyone’s B.S. He says that Sami Zayn let him down last week and had all night to prepare for Dolph Ziggler, and still couldn’t get the job done. Styles asked KO if he got the boil on his back lanced, referring to Sami, and nobody reacted to it at all. It was like an awkward “dad joke” and you could actually see Owens trying not to roll his eyes at how bad it was. He told Corbin that if he had more time to prepare for their match last week, he would still be laying on the floor. Shane McMahon cut them all off and quickly said that the time for talking was over, and told Owens to get to the ring because he’s in action right now…

The match was already underway when we came back from commercial, and Ziggler was taking it to the former “Face of America” with rapid punches in the corner. They fought out to the floor and Owens thew him hard into the side of the ring, his back bouncing off the edge of the apron. That slowed things down quite a bit as KO rolled him back into the ring and connected with a cannonball splash in the corner, as we go to yet another commercial.

After the second break both guys were down on the outside, and we’re shown a desperation suicide dive from Owens that took them both out. Somehow it was Ziggler who recovered first, rolling back into the ring and connecting with a Fameasser for a two-count. He lined up for a superkick, tuning up the band a bit to give away his position and intent, but Owens ducked the move and took him out with a suplex into the bottom turnbuckle.

Owens came off the ropes with a huge elbow drop splashing through his opponent, but it wasn’t enough to get the pin. He tried for the pop-up powerbomb but Ziggler countered the move into a Zig-Zag out of the air in a beautiful spot. 1…2… NO! He lined up for the superkick a second time, but Sami Zayn’s music hit and both guys seemed shocked. Ziggler motioned for Zayn to get in the ring and take him on, but Owens blasted him with a superkick out of nowhere, nearly knocking him out cold. 1…2…3.

Winner: Kevin Owens

– Sami Zayn slowly backed up the entrance ramp with a smirk on his face, starring down Kevin Owens, who didn’t seem to know what to do with what just happened. The mind games are real.
