This week’s episode of SmackDown Live sees Renee Young kick things off in the ring as she welcomes both Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan to the ring, both of whom receive brilliant receptions. Renee recaps what happened last week as well as a new piece of footage from earlier today on WWE.com.

In the footage, The Miz and Marysa call out Brie and Bryan before SmackDown even airs and Bryan says that’s a perfect encapsulation of who Miz and Maryse are as people. Bryan says they love to call themselves the “It Couple,” but the reality is they are cowards.

Brie said that cowards talk, but she and Bryan are not out to talk about what they are going to do is call out Miz and Maryse, but Renee informs them that they aren’t in the building anymore. However, two people who are in the building are Andrade Cien Almas and Zelina Vega, who now enter.

Vega thanks Renee for replaying the footage, Andrade adds that it was great to put Bryan in pain last week and he is ready to do it again, right now… it looks like we have a match on our hands!

Both Bryan and Almas feel each other out in the early moments but Bryan is the first to get the upper hand with some of his famous kick strikes whilst working on the arm of the former NXT Champion. Bryan then attempts the Yes Lock but Almas manages to grab the ropes and then reverse Bryan’s offensive attempt with a huge spinning elbow.

Almas then catches Bryan in the ropes with an arm breaker and follows it up by bumping Daniel Bryan off the ring apron, straight into the barricade. Almas continues that attack with a big chop before slamming his arm into the ring apron.

Andrade then used his momentum to swing a knee at Bryan in the corner, though Daniel avoided it, throwing him to the outside. Bryan’s moment on top didn’t last long though, with his running dive from the ring apron being countered with a dropkick in mid-air.

Bryan picks up the pace again though and this match turns once again as Bryan flies through the middle ropes to take out Cien as we head to the break. Back from the advert and Bryan pushes Almas on the turnbuckles to stop him from whatever he had planned and Almas gets stuck in the tree of woe which opens up the Yes Kicks.

Almas does manage to take Bryan down though and get back to his plans, looking to hit the Moonsault which he misses, only to catch himself and land it, hitting another on Bryan which only gains a two fall. Bryan and Almas then begin trading kicks and strikes with Almas eventually reversing, sending Bryan’s neck into the turnbuckle which sets up the double knees.

Almas then looks for the Hammerlock DDT but he reverses with a great strike to the back of Almas’ head which he follows up with the Running Knee to pick up the win after a very enjoyable TV match. Following the match, Brie Bella takes a cheap shot and gets some revenge on Vega with a huge running knee of her own.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

After the celebration, The Miz and Maryse appear on the titantron, claiming they are out on a date and claims they were at the arena early looking for them, so they will have to wait until Hell In A Cell to be embarrassed again.
