WWE has released a video on its YouTube channel counting down a dream list of Raw and SmackDown Superstars that should appear in NXT.
The list includes The Bar, whose possible NXT matches involve The Undisputed Era and The War Raiders. But the most intriguing matchup for Sheamus and Cesaro in NXT would undoubtedly be against Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Also on the must-see NXT list is Dana Brooke, Luke Harper and Fandango.
Such a list would typically come from fans, so it’s indeed interesting that WWE would release such a video. Most of the time, the a star going from the red or blue brand to NXT would be seen as a demotion. Perhaps the star in question needed more work in the ring or maybe the black and gold brand just needed a shot in the arm on a given night.
But the company is putting forth the idea of an all-inclusive environment, which would see top stars from all three brands criss-cross on a regular basis. NXT may have begun as a developmental territory, but it’s now a legitimate third brand.
That has become evident over the past month, as NXT’s Aleister Black and Ricochet have made a huge impact on both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live. Then there’s Bayley and Sasha Banks, who have teased the idea of defending their newly won WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on every brand in the company, including NXT. It could very well be that NXT will see its fair share of surprises from WWE’s two longest running brands over the course of 2019.
